Video Review: Tac-Con 3MR Trigger

The Tactical Fire Control 3MR drop in trigger for AR-style rifles hit the gun world with a rapid-fire bang! early this year with the promise of a non-NFA device delivering near-full auto fire simply by switching out a trigger.

The video put out by Tac-Con showing the new trigger at work left people salivating for more, and the 3MR was a flaming hot topic on the floor of this year’s SHOT Show. Scoring one of these for an evaluation was like finding the Holy Grail.

Well, Shooting Sports Retailer was one of the lucky few to grab a demo trigger from Tac-Con, and after several months of running it on our Smith & Wesson M&P Sport AR-15, we’re ready to deliver our recommendation for our retailer audience.

Bottom line: There’s certainly been a lot of controversy over this product since its introduction. Most of the criticism stems from its MSRP and whether it really delivers that much value over other triggers at half the price. We’ll leave that to the forums and discussion boards. We shot about 500 rounds through the 3MR trigger, and what we found was that it works as advertised and sure is a hoot to shoot.

Surely a trigger like this appeals to a smaller AR market given its price. But if you’re a retailer with a build-centric clientele, it might an accessory you need to stock.
