Sig Sauer has delivered its contracted Next Generation Squad Weapons (NGSW) system to the U.S. Army, consisting of lightweight high-performance 6.8mm hybrid ammunition, NGSW-AR lightweight machine guns, NGSW-R rifles and suppressors.

“The SIG SAUER next Generation Squad Weapons system is the only submission entirely designed, engineered and manufactured by a single American company," said Ron Cohen, President & CEO of Sig Sauer. "We are proud to deliver this comprehensive solution to the U.S. Army, with new capabilities to enhance mission effectiveness for our soldiers on the battlefield.

"Our ammunition, machine gun, rifle, and suppressors far surpass the performance of the legacy weapons system in range and lethality, offer exponentially better maneuverability, and are significantly lighter in weight.”

The features and benefits of the complete Sig Sauer Next Generation Weapons Systems are:

Sig Sauer 6.8mm Hybrid Ammunition: designed to enhance mission effectiveness, this high-pressure, compact round combines a significant reduction in weight, with the ability to handle higher pressures resulting in increased velocity and greater penetration.

Sig Sauer Lightweight Machine Gun (NGSW-AR): with an emphasis on significant reductions in soldier load and enhanced combat performance, Sig Sauer designed the NGSW-AR to be 40% lighter than current systems, and dramatically reduce felt recoil while maintaining traditional belt-fed operation to increase down range capability. The MG 6.8mm machine gun features ambidextrous AR style ergonomics, quick detach magazines, increased M1913 rail space, quick detach suppressor and vastly improves upon the operation and function of the legacy M249.

Sig Sauer Rifle (NGSW-R): a lightweight rifle built on the foundation of the Sig Sauer weapons in service with the premier fighting forces across the globe combined with the added firepower of the 6.8mm round. Features include a fully collapsible and floating stock, rear and side charging handle, free-floating reinforced M-LOK™ handguard, full ambidextrous controls, and quick-detach suppressor.

Sig Sauer Next Generation Suppressors: designed to reduce harmful backflow and signature that feature low flash with a quick detach design.

Springfield Armory Hellcat Available in Desert Flat Dark Earth

Springfield Armory's popular Hellcat is now available in Desert Flat Dark Earth in its standard and OSP versions.

The Hellcat offers shooters and CCW enthusiasts a combination of high-capacity and compact size as well as the ability to mount an optic.

Since its launch, the Hellcat has shown that it not only has the design features CCW users desire, but also durability, reliability and ruggedness surpassing the expectations of a micro-sized carry gun. This was proven by besting an intensive 10,000 round test, using Federal ammunition.

The Desert FDE finish of the newest Hellcat variant is a rugged Cerakote coating that provides extreme corrosion resistance, and also offers an attractive contrast to the black Melonite finish on the hammer-forged barrel. In addition to the barrel, other parts and controls on the Desert FDE Hellcat — such as the trigger, magazine release, cover plate on the OSP version, sights and more — are in black for an attractive contrasting look.

Big Horn Armory Reintroduces AR500 Pistol

Big Horn Armory, makers of big-bore firearms, has reintroduced the AR500 Pistol for 2020.

Based on the BHA AR500 Rifle, the AR500 Pistol is a large-frame AR chambered in 500 Auto Max, a rimless .500 Smith & Wesson Magnum. This puts an unparalleled amount of power into the pleasant shooting, rapid firing, exceptionally compact platform. The new pistol has been updated and upgraded with a new Blade pistol brace and M-lok handguard. It also includes an ambidextrous safety and charging handle to make shooting it even more enjoyable.

Built using lightweight black hard coat anodized 7075 aluminum receivers with a 10-inch nitrated barrel, full-length Picatinny rail, M-lok handguard and blade pistol brace, the new AR500 Pistol packs a punch yet felt recoil is similar to a .308. It comes with one five round magazine, but additional five- and nine-round magazines are available for purchase at www.bighornarmory.com

Its size makes it ideal for SWAT officers, military, or private security use for vehicle carry or as a powerful breaching weapon capable of clearing any obstruction, including bulletproof glass. It is also perfect for hunters wanting a more compact, but powerful platform for big game, whether in a vehicle or on horseback.

The 500 Auto Max was developed by Big Horn Armory using a 500 S&W rimless straight walled casing with the same ballistics. It is capable of feeding and firing any .500 diameter bullet between 200 and 700 grains. The AR500 has an adjustable gas block to allow the user to run subsonic loads using a suppressor. 500 Auto Max ammunition is currently shipping from Buffalo BoreSteinel Ammunition, and Underwood Ammo, with brass available from Starline Brass.
