Tactical Shooting Sports News: Sig Canebrake Shipping; iota Signs Stocky's

Here is the latest tactical shooting sports news:

Sig Sauer's newest addition to the MCX family, the MCX Rattler Canebrake, is now shipping and available in retail stores.

The MCX Rattler Canebrake comes as a suppressor ready platform with an SD handguard and inert training device that mimics the size and weight of the SIGSRD762 suppressor, and assures all muzzle flash is past the shooter’s hand when reaching out on the handguard during operation without a functional suppressor installed. To have a suppressed MCX system, simply unthread the inert training device, install your suppressor, and select the appropriate gas setting for your ammunition.

Additional features of the MCX Rattler Canebrake include a 2-stage flat-blade match trigger, Cerakote E190 finished upper and lower, a folding coyote-tan PCB. It  comes with one 30-round polymer 300blk Magpul magazine.

Rise Supports Nonprofit Organizations in 2018

Rise Armament contributed more than $260,000 to various nonprofit organizations in the latter half of 2018.

“At Rise, our mission is to make a lasting difference. We’re extremely proud of the support we’ve been able to provide,” said Matt Torres, president of RISE Armament. “Giving back to veterans, law enforcement, local businesses, shooting sports, and other worthy causes is one of our top priorities.”

Rise Armament partnered with several nonprofit organizations in 2018. Its giving is highlighted by their partnership with Folds of Honor, which began in May. In half a year, Rise helped raise $200,000 for Folds of Honor, providing 40 scholarships to the families of military men and women who have fallen or been disabled while on active duty in the United States Armed Forces.

Rise was also the presenting sponsor of the Shoot for the Gold match in Desoto, Kansas, which raised $25,000 for the Special Olympics of Kansas. In addition, Rise Armament supported the Jeff Kirkwold Memorial Match in Forest Lake, Minnesota; all proceeds were donated to Task Force Dagger, which aids wounded, ill, or injured U.S. Special Operations Command members and their families.

Rise Armament donated rifles to various causes, including the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Chamber of Commerce to fund community projects, the Triton Fight Center to honor the courage and commitment of a police officer, and the Owasso, Oklahoma, chapter of Priesthood Motorcycle Ministry to benefit the Make a Wish Foundation of Oklahoma.

The company will continue to focus on these initiatives in 2019 and will advance their giving through additional partnerships. This includes a new partnership with Eagle Ops, an outreach program that assists veterans with their transitions home and connects them to necessary resources.

Team Ruger Starts 2019 Season with Multiple Divisional Wins

Team Ruger started its 2019 season with two divisional wins at the first match of the year.

Dave Olhasso and James McGinty earned divisional wins at the 2019 IDPA Arctic Blast Regional Championship at the Wilkes-Barre Rifle and Pistol Club in Hunlock Creek, PA. The match consisted of 10 scenario stages, held outdoors in the wintry conditions of northeastern Pennsylvania, testing each competitor's skill and focus.

McGinty took top honors in the ESP division shooting the Ruger Custom Shop SR1911 Competition, finishing with a final time of 127.50. Olhasso won the CDP division and second overall with a winning time of 132.58, competing with the SR1911 Target configuration chambered in .45 Auto.

"Starting the season off with the IDPA Arctic Blast in extreme midwinter conditions made this a very challenging match," said McGinty. "We were able to complete eight out of ten stages before the snow started to fly. Even in the sub-freezing temperatures my SR1911 ran flawlessly, allowing me to come home with the first place finish."
