For Real! Silencerco Introduces Shotgun Suppressor

In what is being billed as the first commercially available shotgun suppressor on the market, Silencerco has just unveiled the Salvo 12 which purports to reduce a shotgun blast to 132 decibels at the ear.

The Salvo 12 is designed with shotgun sportsmen in mind since many on the clay or skeet range fire dozens of rounds with the inherent risk to hearing, and also for hunters who leave their hearing protection at home so they can hear that duck call or pheasant flush.

"The Salvo 12 represents a revolution in silencers, not just an evolution,” said Joshua Waldron, Chief Executive Officer for SilencerCo. “There is a huge installed base of shotgun hunters and shooters that has been waiting for a product like this for a long time, and we are proud to deliver it."

The Salvo 12 comes in at 12 inches, but has 2-inch modules that can be removed to reduce its length to as little as 6 inches. The suppressor weighs in at about two pounds and reduces the report at the ear to as little as 140 decibels in the shortest configuration.

The Salvo 12 attaches to the muzzle's existing threads with a choke tube adapter and retails for $1,400.
